vintage 1920s dennison crepe paper

my weakness....vintage crepe paper.
this lovely set is on its way to my house, can't even wait. i'll be sewing ruffles all week i expect.

the box of vintage floral wire on spools is for making crepe paper flowers.
i found this book made by the dennison company, how to make crepe paper flowers. look how cool the patterns are:

blush and bashful has a lovely tutorial for making crepe paper flowers. i love this photo from her blog showing how the crepe paper is cut and rolled up.

martha stewart decorated this whole cake with crepe paper flowers, isn't it just a delicious tower of spring and cake? happy weekend, julie

Julie, what a sweetheart you are, thank you for the refund from my last purchase...I am drooling over this vintage crepe paper! I think I made some of those Dennison flowers at one time...but I remember working more on woodfiber (in beautiful colored squares), using very similar patterns. I think that is why I am so drawn to you & your website with all those glorious steims, reminding me of my childhood love of creation in the late 40's & 50's.
xoxo, Nancy

I have that same crepe paper book given to me by my grandmother. Now I just need to find the vintage crepe paper. :)

I have organized a spring swap and linky party. If you are interested the details are on today's post.

Be blessed!

This brings back memories for me- Not that I'm old enough to remember the 30s! I was born in the 60s but my great grandmother used to make all the floral displays for the department stores -back in the 30s (she also played the piano for the silent movies) at any celebration and also for shop displays she made crepe paper flowers even in the late 60's early 70s the crepe paper was so lovely to work with, not like the thin stuff that we get now. I remember sitting in a sea of paper flowers in the lounge room learning how to make them and helping her with her task.

Julie, These crepe paper flowers are amazing- they almost make me wonder why I've been struggling with finicky, fraying silk for all these years! I might have to give it a shot.... They you for the quick ship on the sugar stamens- I've already put them to work ;)

What a wonderful idea for spring! I can picture these covering an entire wall with color or in beautiful dangling window garlands. The pattern book is way cool.

I've just given away a full range of Dennison's crepe paper, I didn't know it wasn't made now.

I'm sure it will be appreciated though, it's going to a young and vibrant WI.
